The second match in the super 8 (group 2) between England and Sri Lanka stage of the T20 world cup was held in Pallekelle, Sri Lanka. The co-hosts of this tournament, Sri Lanka got completely outplayed by the 2-time champions as they lost the game by a huge margin of 61 runs!! . Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Lankans did manage to restrict England for a very small total of 146. Players like Dunith Wellalage(3/26), Dilshan Madushanka(2/25)and Maheesh Theekshana(2/21) bowled really well by taking wickets at crucial times. Phil Salt took the anchor role in batting as he scored 62(40). In return, England showcased absolute masterclass as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 95 runs. Will Jacks took 3 wickets and also scoring around 25 runs. He was also named player of the match.
